FAQ

Construction fastener questions

What is the difference between F1554 Grade 36, 55 and 105?

The number is the minimum yield strength in ksi. Grade 36 is the most common, 55 is used where higher strength is specified and is weldable with supplementary S1 requirements, and 105 is a high-strength alloy grade. Your engineer's drawings set the grade.

Can A490 bolts be galvanized?

No. A490 bolts must not be hot-dip galvanized because of the risk of hydrogen embrittlement. A325 can be galvanized.

Do you supply full anchor bolt sets?

Yes. Rods, heavy hex nuts and washers, bundled per plan mark on request.

What are tension control bolts?

Structural bolts with a spline end that shears off when the correct tension is reached, so installation can be verified visually. ASTM F3125 Grade A325TC and A490TC.

Can you help with domestic or Buy American requirements?

Yes. Domestic material and documentation are available on request. Tell us the requirement with your RFQ.

Do you ship outside Minnesota?

Yes, nationwide.
